A Thracian gladiator helmet. It was sculpted, painted, and rendered entirely in ZBrush. I tried to only rely on ZBrush's primitive shapes and deformers in order to achieve the final result. For the decorative embossments, I masked out the overall shape of the designs, inverted the mask, and raised the areas using the Layer brush. One of the most difficult parts of this piece was getting the proportions mostly right. While it is not true to the proportions of the reference I used, I felt the variation gave it a bit of character. Achieving hard surface only using ZBrush was quite a challenge overall.
